Burger King Kingdom

Many people don't realize that before the Burger King was a creepy plastic-headed stalker that enjoys watching you sleep (no offense BK, I love you), he was actually portrayed by a live actor and had a cast of characters that would follow him around as he performed his magic. The modern Burger King was actually inspired by a fiberglass helium tank head of the 70's Burger King. ( img443.imageshack.us/img443/63… )

The 1970's 'Marvelous Magical Burger King' is without a doubt my second favorite character, only second to Mac Tonight from McDonald's. He's quirky, fun, has an awesome voice, and he has a beautiful mane of hair. Haha.

The Burger King Kingdom characters came to tv in 1976; Burger King's answer to the 'McDonaldland' characters of the time. The group is led by the 'Marvelous Magical Burger King', a friendly king who performs magic and can transport to Burger King with a twist of his ring. His friends are Sir Shake-a-lot- a knight wearing Burger King cups as armor who drinks so many shakes he's constantly shivering, The Burger Thing- a giant living burger in a frame (voiced by the famous Frank Welker!), intended to be a 'living portrait,' and The Wizard of Fries- a robotic wizard who is powered by the Burger King french fries in his dome. He has the power to "multi-fry" or turn one fry into many. And with every good thing there has to be at least one person to rain on the parade, and that role is filled by the Burger King's nemesis 'The Duke of Doubt' who doubts the king's magical abilities and constantly tries to prove that magic is fake.

A lot of people find these characters to be creepy or just flat-out rip offs of McDonald's characters, but I really enjoy them and they're some of my favorite characters, period.
